Completed Projects...The Wolgast Way.
Aldi's typical design is a large box constructed of metal stud exterior walls with brick veneer and metal joist and roof deck. Aldi then adds to the floorplan a manager's office, back room storage space and an open sales area where they install shelving units and cooler freezer boxes for product storage. Aldi is unique in that they package and sell their own brands and they operate stores with very few personnel. By offering lower costs and fewer services, the customers know that they will be charged a small deposit for the use of the shopping carts to ensure their return to the coral. Additionally, the customers pay for their bags if so needed, and are even responsible to bag their own groceries. By utilizing a few unique sales approaches, Aldi can offer much lower prices to their market segment.
